I own EC & PBR-A. I'm happy to sit with them. I also have a portfolio of O&G names including RIG & FTI. It is currently my smallest sector allocation. In my mind the bull case for oil is without question. But, I think timing in life is everything and I don't think now is the time to load the boat with oil stocks. If we aren't already in a recession one is right around the corner. Whilst I think there is a very good chance we are going to see a blow off top in the market I also think in 6 to 9 months we are going to see a selloff the likes of which most people have never seen before. If that happens oil goes to 30/40 bucks. If and when that happens I will be buying hand over fist. Meanwhile, if I'm right about a blow off oil will be a laggard. These will certainly be put on the watch list.
Thank you for such a great analysis. I own a little of both of these stocks, so having them directly compared like this was perfect. TAL looking even more attractive now.

Hi Professor, it is my understanding GPRK has left Argentina after the government did not approve of their deal. Is this accurate? Thanks

Why play around with south American oil juniors when you have Petrobras and EcoPetrol that are extremely cheap and pay massive dividends?
